1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pure Instinct “Never stop praying.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NLT)
by Chris
Many would argue the 2013 NBA Finals was won in Game 6 when Ray Allen hit an amazing 3-pointer from the corner to push the game into overtime.
The Heat would defeat the Spurs the next game to win their second NBA championship in a row.
When asked about the shot, Ray Allen claimed that he was prepared for such a big moment due to practicing shooting from various areas on the court practically every day.
Michael Jordan said something similar while being interviewed about tight game situations. Jordan told the reporter that he practiced every game situation so when it was time to step up nothing was new to him.
It was like they had already been there before. In the heat of the battle all the hard work and practice paid off by becoming instinct.
What habits are you practicing as a Christian to prepare you for when trials hit? That you respond a certain way without even thinking about it. Pure instinct.
For me it’s a life of prayer.
Throughout my day I’m always in constant communication with God. When trials hit, I don’t pray to him because I want immediate relief (although I’ll take that); I pray to him because it’s instinct.
It’s what I’ve trained myself to do. Not just in my trials, but in all situations.
And when I need more power, I ask. Just like I did in yesterday’s devotional.
And you all came through.
As the prayers began flooding my inbox I started to feel the Holy Spirit while reading each and every one of them. By noon my spirit man was rejuvenated and ready to go.
Never underestimate the power of praying men.
I personally thank each and every one of you that took the time out of your day to pray for me.
I would encourage every one who reads this to do the same. Use this group of men as a weapon against the attack and tricks of the enemy.
When you are in need of more prayer, reply to any of these devotionals and I will send the request out to the group.
I am fully convinced that praying men will change this nation, our families, and each other.
Lets continue to use the power of prayer to invite God into our lives and the lives of others.
Time to pray...
“Father I thank you for prayer. Through it you provide a means for us to communicate to you and you to us. Forgive us if we have not taken full advantage of this gift Lord. Help us establish a consistent prayer life. I speak life over every man and every situation. As we go through let us not use prayer to inform you about our problems, but moreso to tell our problems about you God. You have given us dominion and authority on earth, we release it through prayer. We promise to pray continually Lord. In Jesus name we pray...Amen”
