Romans 1:16 - Neva Scared “For I am not ashamed of the gospel,”
(Romans 1:16 NIV)
by Chris
I believe I was around 10 years old when I first accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
Most people had no clue, however.
Beside the internal guilt I felt when doing something I knew was wrong, I simply tried not to stand out too much at school around my peers.
I wanted to tell them I had changed and that I loved Christ, but I just couldn’t find the courage. To be honest...
I was ashamed.
Trying to avoid the teasing, funny looks, and ridicule; I found that keeping quiet was my best option.
What it all boiled down to is that I was just a baby in Christ. My feelings were natural. I just made a life changing decision. I needed time to grow my confidence in Christ.
However, the enemy tricked me into feeling ashamed and ultimately hiding my faith.
When is the last time you found yourself hiding Christ for public acceptance amongst your peers? Maybe it was a business deal you thought mentioning your faith would ruin. Or a friendly invite to go out with your co-workers and boss.
Been there done that. Fast forward some years and now...
I don’t care.
I don’t care how I am viewed when it comes to Christ. I can’t keep Him to myself. Without expressing His goodness I feel like a caged animal that needs to be free.
It’s like fire shut up in my bones, I can’t hold it in!
Brothers, if you don’t have this kind of confidence it will come in time with prayer and faith. But you do need it.
Don’t let the devil trick you into shame and embarrassment to prevent you from sharing the gospel with others. God has been too good to you.
Instead, treat the gospel like you would a good movie or great restaurant. Tell somebody all about it hoping they decide to try it for themselves.
Lets pray...
“Father we stand before you today as proud sons. We honor you as our Heavenly Father and profess confidence in your name. For the times when you convict us to speak on your name, let us speak with boldness. When it is time to share our testimony, let us do it without reserve. Lord we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are your servants to see that your will be done on earth. In Jesus name we pray...Amen”
