Daily Scripture
“2 One
evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the
palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very
beautiful, 3 and
David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is
Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. Then she went back home.” ~ 2 Samuel 11:2-4
If
you’re not familiar with the story David slept with his top soldier’s
wife while he was away at battle. He sent her back home and later found out she was pregnant. This act ultimately led King David to murder his own soldier.
For this scripture, I'd like to highlight what David did NOT do as soon as he got up. Here’s a short list of “David Didn’t”: Pray Guard his eyes Guard his heart
David
was a soldier, no a warrior, but he didn’t put on his armor for daily
battle. He left himself exposed for the enemy to attack and conquer.
How
many mornings of yours resemble that of David’s evening?
What is your Bathsheba?
Maybe it's porn. Maybe it’s a co-worker, or female at your
church. Only you know. However, I know this...we cannot afford to start
our days off unarmed.
Brothers
lets make a pact to honor God with the first of our mornings. Honor him
with daily prayer and dependance. Morning prayer, like breakfast, is
the most important part of our day as men.
Let us pray...
“God
thank you for your grace and mercy. For your forgiveness for every
woman we have had sex with outside of marriage. For every time we have
masturbated with or without porn. For every x-rated fantasy we have
throughout the day about one of your daughters. Lord we give our heart to you to cleanse it and make
it whole. Renew our mind Father. We cannot do it ourselves, so we thank you for our strength
in you. Now teach us how to use this strength daily”
Amen.
In continual prayer,
Chris L. Davis P.S. Did you realize this was the first record (in the bible) of a “hit it
and quit it”? Literally, David hit the skins and immediately sent her home.
I say
that to say...there’s nothing you can do that hasn’t already been done.
Don’t let the devil trick you into thinking your sin is too great for forgiveness.
As He did King David, God is ready and willing to forgive your sexual sins. He's just waiting on you to ask.
