11But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.” (1 Corinthians 5:11-13)

History was made a couple days ago.

For the first time in a major sport, an active player “came out of the closet” and admitted to being gay.

And everybody applauded.

From other athletes to the president of the United States, everyone was proud and accepting.

Here’s where I got offended...Jason Collins, the gay player, professes his Christianity as well.

While the world will say “doesn’t the bible say don’t judge?”, the scripture above tells us the exact opposite is true.

We have full rights to judge those in the family of faith. Those who profess to be followers of Christ. It’s how the integrity of the faith is maintained.

Of course you don’t do it to condemn, but to correct. To take a stand and correct your brother in love.

Brothers, we cannot become like the society we are living in that so easily accepts sin, applauds the sinner, and crucifies anyone who speaks against.

We are called to be light amongst darkness!

Just like how flipping on a light switch in the middle of the night disrupts the eyes for a time...we are called to do the same in the world.

Shine your light!

Let those who cannot stand the light flee from it.

Let us pray...

“Father forgive the body for being so accepting of sin. We ask you this morning to give us the discernment to know how to judge our brothers correctly. Holy spirit fill us with the right words to say and the boldness to say it. Show us how to stand on your word regardless of the worldly consequences. In Jesus name...

Amen”

Note: NBA Analyst, and devout christian, Chris Broussard did speak out about premarital sex between heterosexuals and homosexuals being sin. Pray he does not lose his job for taking such a bold, and accurate stand for Christ.
