John 19:30 - Finish Him! “When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.”
(John 19:30 NLT)

When I was a child I loved to play, and watch, one video game in particular at the arcades. It was called Mortal Kombat.
What made it so different that the other fighting games was that at the end of a best of 3 match you would see the words “FINISH HIM!” in red blood across the screen.
That was your chance to enter your player’s code and pull off the ultimate finishing move to kill the other character.
The Jewish soldiers attempted to finish Jesus as He lay on the cross by piercing His side. But they failed.
Jesus had already given up His spirit on the cross. The mission was already complete.
How many times have you tried to take credit for something God has already completed in your life? Believing it was by some goodness of your own, or wise thought that actually brought about the outcome.
As Christians, there is nothing we can do that God has not already done for us. He finished it all at the cross.
It’s similar to an author watching someone read their novel. There are no surprises or new discoveries for the author...only for the reader.
This should give us confidence in knowing that God truly has it all worked out for us. He has finished all the work necessary for us to live prosperous lives on earth.
What this means is that you are not waiting on God to do certain things in your life, He’s waiting on you to walk in the work He’s already completed. To journey down the path He’s already paved for you by faith.
So don’t fool yourself by trying to complete what’s already finished. Instead, receive the work done on the cross and walk in it.
Lets pray...
“Father thank you for your Son. A man who died for every soul that would ever walk this earth. He completed a great work on the cross that we reap the benefits of daily. Lord help us to no try to redo the work. By faith let us understand that the path we want to journey down is already paved and results in victory. In our troubled times let this fact comfort us in knowing that we will win if we yet endure. In Jesus name we pray...Amen”
