Galatians 6:10 - Family First

“Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” (Galatians 6:10 NLT)

by Chris

Has this ever happened to you?..

You spark up a conversation with someone about generalities. The more you converse the more you start to hear certain phrases that lead you to believe the individual may be a believer.

Soon enough, the reveal they are a Christian and you both start grinning ear to ear. From that point on the conversation takes a different turn.

A turn for the better because you have found another family member of faith.

The Word tells us to be sure we take care of the family of faith. Especially since we are to take every opportunity to do good to non-believers as well.

This may seem basic but it is often overlooked. A lot of times instead of doing good by members of the body, people become judgmental.

They begin to assess the walk of others to determine what kind of treatment they deserve from them.

Who are you to determine what kind of treatment a brother (or sister) in Christ receives? The quick answer is nobody.

When it comes to doing right by others, we are to take special account to those in the family of faith. No judgement or condemnation necessary.

I have experienced a lot of pains in the church. And one thing that God constantly reminds me is...”there are no enemies in the body of Christ. Just disagreements”

I’ve learned two can disagree and still do right by each other.

If you’ve been harmed in church or are holding a grudge towards another faith family member...it’s time to reconcile.

We have to operate in order. Do not attempt to do good by others in the world when you are not willing to extend grace to your fellow brother.

Instead, make a conscious effort to keep short accounts with believers to allow you to seize every opportunity you get to do good.

Lets pray...

“Lord thank you for your goodness and mercy. Help us to extend that same goodness and mercy to the family of faith. Show us to love instead of judge each other Lord. Let our efforts towards one another be to build and strengthen. With a heart to serve, I pray every man reading this be able to seize the next opportunity to do right by a fellow family member of faith. I pray these things in Jesus name...

Amen”
