Ecclesiastes 10:17 - Bit by Bit
“By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.” (Ecclesiastes 10:17 KJV)
by Peter Da Via
Spiritual decline doesn't happen over night it happens little by little.
This short analogy here about the building and house prove this. It's because of the slothfulness (laziness) that the building decayed.
When we get lazy we end up going through our spiritual motions. Tithe, clap when the choir sings, say amen during the sermon and smile.
When we neglect reading and applying Gods word to our lives it causes us to think just showing up is enough.
The last statement of this verse proves this when the hands became idle, stopped doing the house dropped or fell through. There was nothing to keep the house up.
It rotted through.
When our spiritual muscles aren't being used and we stop doing His word we are setting our selves up to fall through too.
Today raise your spiritual standards that way you will start thinking differently about your salvation. Sinful slothfulness will steal your joy and will diminish your desire to live out Gods word.
God has been to good for us to get lazy with Him!!
Lets pray...
“Father, we rebuke the spirit of laziness in every man of God today. Though we know it was part of the curse of Adam that we will have to toil on earth, let us not grow weary in building your kingdom. An idle mind is the devil’s playground. Lord we remove every idle thought and idle actions from our lives today so that we may glorify you more with our lives. In Jesus name...Amen”
