Subject: [Devotional] - Almost slipped

Psalm 73:2-3 - Slippin

But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogantwhen I saw the prosperity of the wicked. (Psalm 73:2-3 NIV)

Happens to me more times than I'd like to admit.

Your living your life upright and you see someone doing the exact opposite that appears to be prospering more. Then you start to covet.

Seems it's only natural to wonder what they're doing right that you're not doing. To question your walk as if you missed God somewhere. Even worse, wondering if living for God will ever pay off.

This psalm is a great reminder that such thoughts couldn't be further from the truth. It helps us to never forget the outcome of such people and their lifestyle.

Read the entire chapter of Psalm 73 and see for yourself.

As men of God we must remain focused on the ultimate outcome, which is living a life upright before God with the promise of eternal life

We live our lives in confidence knowing that immediate gratification and worldly glorification is not what we live for.

We are not persuaded to follow the unrighteous because we know what the end has in store...eternal damnation.

Next time you find yourself coveting or longing for the things of this world an unrighteous life promises...refer back to this scripture for perspective.

Let's pray...

"Father forgive our hearts for admiring the lives of the wicked. For putting their worldly lifestyle and possessions over a life filled with Christ and real promise. Father we know that only an upright life can produce the fruits in our lives we desire. Help us to keep focused in your Word and your promise in the face of worldly temptation. In Jesus name...

Amen"
