Subject: All that matters

James 1:11 - All That Matters

“You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. Well, that’s a picture of the “prosperous life.” At the very moment everyone is looking on in admiration, it fades away to nothing.” (James 1:11 MSG)

Sometimes you have to remind yourself about what really matters.

We are bombarded with images of success. Our view of a prosperous life is continually being shaped by our society.

More times than not that image is connected to the abundant acquiring of material things. This way of thinking is projected into every income level in America.

No matter who you are you will be measured by what you have. What you are able to buy will dictate your level of success to most.

It is times like this where you should be glad you know the Truth. A Truth that goes beyond physical gain and speaks to eternal existence.

A Truth whose standards are far different from what the world deems prosperous and successful.

A Truth that will withstand the test of time.

When it all fades away, we know we will be left standing with the only thing that matters. The only thing that has ever mattered...

Salvation.

Brothers, there is nothing wrong with amassing great wealth or living in luxury. In fact, I think the world needs to see more Christians living at higher means.

However, knowing the Truth, we cannot place our identity in all that we amass. If we do, we will perish just as our riches.

“If we put our life and our identity into things that fade away, we will fade away also. How much better to put our life and our identity into things that will never fade!” (Guzik)

Lets pray...

“Father thank you for the ability to generate great wealth. We are thankful for all the materials things that bring us comfort and make us happy at times. Lord we know you want us to prosper on earth as our soul prospers. As we find success in the world let us not forget where our identify lies and always will. We know that all we do is made possible in You. Thank you for your limitlessness. In Jesus name we pray...Amen ”
