Ezekiel 3:20 - Accountable “…and I will hold you accountable for their blood.” (Ezekiel 3: 20 NIV)
by Chris
The reason I started this devotional was for accountability.
I found myself starting my day off at lightening speed and ending it without giving God any attention. Before long, days had gone by without me reading my bible or praying.
The thought of that was too scary for me to bear.
I was living my life by faith and needed the strongest connection to the Father that I could establish.
Since I knew I needed accountability I created it.
I didn’t know of any other way to create accountability for myself than to put myself on the line for something that was bigger than me. Something people would be depending on me to do.
So when I didn’t feel like doing it, I would realize that it wasn’t just for me. But for a group of godly men that were now depending on me.
Approximately 187 days later here we are.
The accountability I have to you fulfills my the accountability I have to Christ. That is to spread the gospel and let His truth be known amongst men.
God has charged every man to be a watchmen over each other. We are all accountable in holding each other’s lifestyles up to the light of the truth.
We are not responsible for changing anyone, but God is looking to us to make sure that we reach out to our lost brothers in love and in truth.
How are you being a watchmen?
My prayer is that this devotional has been helpful in growing you closer to God. That His commands will be known to you that much more.
This devotional has been critical to deepening my relationship with God. That deeper relationship has provided me wisdom, understanding, provision, protection, and guidance on my path to fulfilling my purpose.
Accountability with God is two-fold. It demands that you put the word into action. In return, you move closer to fulfilling your true purpose in life.
It is the fulfilling of your purpose that God is ultimately holding you accountable for.
Lets pray…
“Father thank you for holding me accountable to speak the truth in the midst of darkness. I am my brother’s keeper and will be a watchmen over his soul. Lord the more of your commands I carry out, the more clearly I understand my purpose in life. For that, I am eternally thankful. Let your will be done in my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
