You meet the pass mark,
What now?
Dear Friend,

I want to personally congratulate you for reaching the pass mark of Australia's General Skilled Migration program.

Only 1 out of 5 who answer our Questionnaire meet the current eligibility point required by Immigration.

I for one, did not meet the pass mark some 15 years ago...

Yes, 15 years ago, I found myself facing a blank wall as to how I can increase my points. The only thing possible then was if an employer will sponsor me but...

no one wanted to!

Believe it or not, something happened -

I am now an Australian citizen and helping other skilled professionals like you be where God intended them to be.

Ok, this email is not about me!

I would like to warn you that meeting the pass mark is only the first tiny step in in the visa application process..

If you think it's been a while since you last answered the eligibility questionnaire, you can answer it again...

Let me discuss three of the categories you should be aware of ...
English Ability

First, You need to meet the English ability requirements, not only for your visa, but that of your skills assessor, the state that will nominate you and the registration body in your profession, if this is a requirement.

It is important to note that aside from the widely used IELTS, there are other English Test Centres that are now accepted by The Department of Home Affairs, like the PTE, OET, TOEFL and CAE. Just be aware that your skills assessor might require specific test provider/s.
Usual Occupation

Second, you need to know if the tasks you do in your usual occupation in the past 10 years are similar to the tasks that someone in similar occupation do in Australia. The occupation may not be called the same but if you are doing similar tasks, you can claim the number of years you worked there for points.

Note that Home Affairs will be counting your work experience in the past 10 years but depending on the Skills Assessment body (for your occupation), they might require recent experience and count the previous ones to meet your educational qualifications. Tricky counting - this one!

State Nomination

Third, state nomination is helpful these days because they can add 5 to 10 points and you can get your invitation earlier

States and Territories have different migration plan and might have shorter list of occupations than the Home Affair's.

Once a State or Territory has nominated you, you will be invited in few days time.

You need to know more about each state and territory before applying for nomination.
