STUDIO UPDATES

Greetings all! As we head into summer, we here at MCMA have several studio updates for you! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to our Office Manager, Maddy Siletti.

Summer Recital

If you've been taking lessons since the beginning of the semester and would like to perform at our recital, it's time to talk to your instructor! While the recital will be held in person this summer, those who are not comfortable performing in person are asked to send a video of their piece from home.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be holding our recital in person at the Camden Amphitheater on Sunday, June 20th. More details will follow, but for now, save the date!

Summer Camps

Who else is ready for summer, because we sure are!

We are thrilled to offer two original camps (Blues and Jazz Intensives) as well as two brand new camps: Arena Rock (partnering with the Mid-Coast Recreational Center) and Sōnarts (partnering with the Center for Maine Contemporary Art).

Performance Opportunities

This summer, there are several performance opportunities for our students! If you or your child is interested in performing, please reach out to either Jen or Maddy to let us know!

  • Mary Lea Park: The town of Rockport will be scheduling performers for late afternoon concerts on Sundays in the Mary Lea Park (next to Rockport Opera House) this summer. Power, amplification and a keyboard will be available.

  • MCMA's summer recital!

  • Porchfest: Sunday, August 22nd from 3-5pm in Rockland- a musical walking tour in downtown Rockland! This awesome fundraiser will be held on various porches between Limerock Street, Talbot Avenue and Main Street. Students, faculty, and professional groups will be playing at ten porch locations, culminating at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) with a performance by the summer camp students from Sōnarts. We hope to see you there!

  • Cafe Miranda: Owner Kerry Altiero would love to have live music outdoors every week this summer. Scheduling is flexible, and usually there are openings Thursday-Sunday during the dinner hour. If you or your ensemble has at least a half hour's worth of material, this would be a great place to start getting some experience gigging!

  • 16 Bayview Hotel: This beautiful hotel in Camden is interested in having students perform outdoors near the lower level entrance on weekend days this summer.
