Meet our March Student of the month - Lochlin Recht!
Lochlin has been learning under the guidance of instructor Amory Raymond. Amory has this to say about his student:
"Lochlin is probably one of my most unique teaching experiences. Often students require a change in approach, but every so often there's a student that allows you to change it in dramatic and exciting new ways that then becomes inspiring.
Lochlin came into lessons last fall a complete open book; sincere and enthusiastic with simultaneously thoughtful and established tastes in music. I could see he had a specific direction and artistic vision for himself. He fearlessly dove directly into the specifics of this vision, and our lessons organically incorporated relevant aspects of technique, theory, composition, production and collaboration, using the guitar to quantify and express these ideas. In this process, I've been incredibly impressed with both Lochlin's understanding of, and enthusiasm with, the anatomy of music and its compositional applications. He's a total sponge. We can go as far down the rabbit hole as we want and he not only comprehends these concepts but he is inherently using them to create original ideas that are true to his aesthetic sensibilities.
What do we need to know to compose and produce music in the style that we enjoy, so that we can express ourselves creatively? Lochlin's goal was to get to this place from the starting point of a person jumping into music with absolutely no experience. We've closed the Academy many nights going down this creative rabbit hole and he's well on his way to this goal."
