This summer's Blues Intensive Camp earlier this month was a massive success! Students had an immersive experience in all things blues – the history, the style, and the music of legends ... culminating in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as students took the big stage at the North Atlantic Blues Festival on July 14 to open the day’s festivities.

Lead instructors Tom Luther and Amory Raymond brought their expertise and support to help students refine their individual and ensemble skills. MCMA faculty members Mark Power, Khaya Cohen, Dan Wenger, and Ruben Feldman offered instrument-specific assistance in break-out sessions during the camp.

A huge thank you to ALL the individuals who contributed to the week's incredible line-up of learning! Here are some highlights:

The incredible Paul Benjamin, producer and founder of North Atlantic Blues Festival, visited the students to share with them about the mission, community, and production of the festival.

Meg Williams, who held the honor of being the side-stage performer at this year’s festival, visited the students and offered an intimate behind-the-scenes presentation of the music business and performance tips.

Grammy-award winning blues musician Ruthie Foster phoned in to connect with the students personally – and to congratulate them on their rehearsal of her recently released original song “Rainbow” and her cover of “War Pigs.”

Watch the students’ NABF performance,
