October 2023

STUDIO NEWS

October is here, the trees look like they're painted onto the landscape and Halloween is just around the corner. Read on to meet our student of the month, read about lesson and group availability, meet our new voice instructor, help us with some important feedback and learn about some faculty performances.

Speaking of Halloween ... Yes! Lessons happen as usual on Halloween. We'll have candy for trick-or-treaters and we can't wait to see your costumes! You may find your instructor looks a little different on October 31st, too!

MEET OUR STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Logan has been studying guitar with Amory since January of 2023. Amory has this to say about his student:

“Logan is an exemplary student that displays many of the traits of an MCMA Student of the Month. To begin with, he’s punctual. Rain or shine, Logan is always on time and prepared for his lesson. He works steadily and is not easily discouraged when things get difficult. As a result, he’s been making steady, consistent progress.

Logan is totally open, enthusiastic and not afraid of ambitious material, so we were able to learn both open chords and bar chords in tandem and start building his repertoire. He also has excellent retention. It’s useful because we can touch on something briefly then come back to it later in the semester with an improved skill set and polish it off easily. These moments are always the payoff.

Currently, Logan is working on smoothing out his strumming technique and leveling up his fretting hand to move on to some intermediate level, riff-oriented, heavy metal classics.”

LESSON SLOTS AVAILABLE

It's such a thrill to have our studios busily ringing with music all week long! There are still a few slots open for private and group lessons. Please get in touch if you are interested in private lessons in: piano, voice, trumpet, trombone, cello, ukulele, violin or bass (upright, electric or double).

ENSEMBLE/CLASS SLOTS AVAILABLE

We have the following opportunities in ensembles or group classes, It is strongly recommended that ensemble students are taking private lessons (either at MCMA or elsewhere).

Please click the button below to tell us more about what you'd like!

  • Music Exploration Class (ages 5-8): a place for young musicians to explore basic music theory, rhythm, melody and instruments. 2-4 participants.

YOUR FEEDBACK REQUESTED

As a part of MCMA's continued growth, our Board of Directors is hard at work creating an updated strategic plan to guide us through the next three to five years. One important aspect of the process is collecting feedback from our most important stakeholders - our students and families. We've created a brief survey to that effect. It's 100% anonymous. We're very grateful for your feedback!
