Subject: can we bring back "negative-thinking"?

 Friend,

I've a very contrarian opinion here...

We need to bring back negative thinking.

People have taken positive thinking way too far.

You see, all those tiny negative thoughts that pop-up like:

"I don't look very presentable today"

"I'm ashamed of my own resume"

"I'm afraid if I should go ask for a hike"

Are all normal. In fact - healthy.

Not all negative thoughts are self-sabotaging.

Most are a strong unpleasant shot of self-awareness on what exactly our weak points are.

Don't try to let it freeze you.

At the same time don't try to delusionally avoid it.

Instead - use your negative thoughts.

Here's the thing:

  • If you're self-conscious about how you're dressed - then you're probably not well dressed. Get an image consultant or read a few blogs and fix your presentability. (instead of delusionally affirming "I look stunning today")

  • If you're doubtful about sending your resume to employers then don't. Spend some time learning what makes a resume stand out. Implement it and then send it. (no need to visualize the recruiter getting impressed by your resume)

  • If you're doubtful to go ask your boss a hike, then look for ways to add more value to organization. Do your research. Ask for more responsibilities and a hike. (instead of trying to be more positive about your work performance)

Now I'll make 1 thing clear.

I'm not against positive thinking or the law of attraction.

I'm a very devoted student of the law of attraction. And it has contributed a LOT to my success.

I teach it to all my students.

But...

That doesn't mean we need to start villainizing negative thinking.

Instead make use of it.

(It's a feature not a fault)
