You have a strong hold on your NICHE.

Yesterday I had a 1:1 session with one of my students who’s really frustrated with his job.

He had several reasons for disliking his job, and he wanted to understand if he should really quit or continue.

And I suggested he write down 20 advantages & benefits he got from the job he dislikes.

Initially, it was difficult for him to find even one because of his irritation but once he shifted his focus he jotted down 22 benefits.

Once he became neutral he started thinking objectively.

The biggest confirmation he got was that he is not getting the opportunity to work on his strengths & core skills & that’s the reason for his underperformance, dissatisfaction & low visibility.

👉He realized he is not working in his NICHE.

The reason he held on to his job for a long was financial security.

Now he has to decide what’s more important – Financial security or Job satisfaction.

I’ve asked him to still think of all the pros & cons keeping in mind his TOP PRIORITIES IN LIFE.

But I guess he has chosen job satisfaction over financial security.
(The choices will vary from person to person).

✅One needs to understand that the only way to survive & succeed in a job is to be in a job where you get the opportunities to utilize & build on your strengths & core skills.

✅The repetitive advice I keep giving to every jobseeker & professional is – Build Your Brand in Your Niche.

Whether it’s a recession or pandemic, people who have a stronger hold on their niche will continue to thrive.

When you work on your niche you 👇

1-    Show a stronger hold on your domain.
2-    You’re seen as a specialist & an indispensable asset.
3-    You can think creatively & solve issues better than others.
4-    You are more invested in the company & its growth than others.
5-    Your strengths help you deal with situations better & keep you calmer in crisis.
6- You’re happier & more satisfied, which helps you build better relationships.

👉And even If you get laid off you always will have the confidence to either attract a better job or start something of your own.

What you choose to focus on is what you’ll attract.
