I found this story in a 7th-grade textbook...
...and it still had a STRONG effect on me.
Here's how the story goes...
The ants worked so hard to stock their food reserves for the winter.
All the itsy bitsy food. Sugar crystals. Fruits. Tree Sap.
But the Grasshoppers laughed at them:
“Why don’t these losers live in the moment and enjoy their lives?”
“Constantly working hard for no reason”
"YOLO - You Only Live Once"
The ants looked stupid doing all the hard work.
And the grasshoppers looked cool chilling and enjoying life.
Until winter arrived.
None of them were able to go out in the snow to collect food.
The grasshoppers ran out of food and died due to starvation.
While the ants were living their life hibernating inside their hills.
Now, why am I telling you this story?
Well...
Most people work just enough not to get fired and get paid enough money not to
quit.
They don't go network with Industry leaders because they don't want anything
from them right now...
They don't create content on LinkedIn because they don't want any new
opportunities right now...
They don't build a strong career brand because they don't want any new jobs or
freelance work right now...
But when winter arrives & they need to:
Nobody is waiting for them.
Do you see where I'm going with this?
Don't be a grasshopper. Be an ant.
