Hey, Hope you had a great week! Between all the mixing and production projects and then family stuff it was a super crazy one for me.
So check this out...I've been holding myself back for years from doing something I really wanted to do.
My wife Mrs. Mig says I am "Self-Sabotaging".
One of the things I enjoy as much as creating is teaching and for 4 years she has said "Mr. Mig needs to share his 25+ yrs of real music industry knowledge with the world".
I was recently approached by a music college to create a course for them on the music business. I am honored they felt that I am who they want to head this project up. it was confirmation for me that I need to go ahead and stop being scared. I'm sure you know the feeling as an artist/songwriter.
I will say that when you're passionate about something and give it your heart it typically rewards you and those around you.
You know, I get messages frequently for 1 on 1 Zoom coaching and I get the same comments "If You Had A Course, I'd be Your First Customer".
But honestly I used to be against these fake music gurus out there that have no actual industry experience.
So, It took alot of convincing from lots of people in my life. The one thing they do say is they believe that whenever I have taught, posted vids online or done college or conference seminars in the past that it came off as genuine and that is most important to me.
So, while it is scary to start a new chapter I am moving ahead!
The courses will be everything from how to record, edit and mix your own vocals with minimal equipment or previous knowledge to how to produce and market songs, beats, etc. Also, the fun stuff: motivation and psychology.
As you know, I've been creating music for a living for over 25 years and I really want to teach what I know to as many people out here who want to learn how to go from making music as a hobby to making music as a living.
If that's something you think you'd be interested in I'll have a pre-signup coming soon so let me know by replying to this email if you like the idea and if there's anything specific you would love to learn from me!
Btw, I posted a brand new article for you to check out about why I think singers/recording artists should learn to play piano (at least a little bit).
It helped me tremendously when I was starting out as a songwriter/singer. Check it out here.
Hope you enjoy it, and as always, thanks for getting your instrumentals, mixing and mastering from me and MaxxBeats.com -Mig |
