Fyi, I worked with Taylor personally in the earlier years of her career when she was focused on being a Country music artist and for years I stayed in contact with her and her family. I produced 2 songs, "Smoky Black Night" and "Lucky You".
I had no doubt she would get signed and be a huge star but she may be the biggest music artist in history at this point. Completely mind blowing to me.
I've been involved with quite a few artists over the years that I have developed and walked to the labels.
The crazy thing is I wonder how many label execs that I pitched Taylor to who are kicking themselves now for ignoring her when I gave them the opportunity to check her out 🤷🏼♂️.
The same thing happened with Wiz Kalifa. I knew Wiz' label owner Benjy Grinberg and I wanted to help in any capacity I could. I had reached out to a couple publications I was close with to get the first interviews with him but they were "too busy" to care at the time...then he blew up.
I always try and help my people wherever I can.
Just this year I got multiple artists signed to label deals including DJ Korpen (EDM Producer) and Kathrine Jackie (Country Artist/Songwriter).
They both came to me as coaching and production clients and I saw something amazing in them so I connected them to 418 Music which is a prominent indie label with major distribution through Universal/Virgin.
Anyway, I wanted to share this story with you and let you know that you never know what tomorrow has in store for you. Just keep grinding...
