Subject: The one constant that is present through all my art...

Hey Friend,

I don't know about you but as the days are getting shorter there's more time on my hand to finish artworks that collected dust during the warm and eventful summer days.

Do you like winter? Every season has its perks, and in winter it's my time to bring newly collected memories & impressions into fruition, and most importantly, into new art.

Recently you could see a preview of my two newest iris paintings on my Instagram:

  • The human eye has always fascinated me...

  • ...especially for it's mysterious and strong symbolism

  • There are also the mythological and spiritual qualities it has been attributed to by many humans.

Instagram-Post: 2 new iris paintings!

Both new works are the logical predecessor of a mid-sized and a large iris painting created for a group show back in 2019...

...but only a few of you know: In the early stages of my art career, I mainly focussed on doing anatomical sculptures.

Heartquake, 2017 | Max Ruebensal

Heartquake, 2017

Plaster, sculpture.

  • My heart sculptures illuminated the beauty/ fascination of our own body from new angles

  • The goal was to take the multi-layered connotation of the heart into art and transform it into new messages

  • Even later, when starting to do installations, human anatomy was omnipresent...

...and resulted in a 9-meter solar system where our planet-styled organs would circle around our torso.

You could easily say that the fascination for the human body has been a thriving constant through all my different art practices.

Sometimes obviously, sometimes not.

A transfer into the current world of 2D-paintings felt logical and natural...

And who knows, there might be a whole series to come out of the studio in the next months! 😉
