ACTION ALERT: All States Act Now
on RFID Electronic Ear Tags
USDA May Implement Soon

We recently sent out an ACTION ALERT regarding RFID Electronic Ear Tags. The USDA has slipped in mandatory electronic animal ID into an appropriations bill. Please let your voice be heard on implementation of mandatory RFID tags! This is a measure driven by the large meatpackers, who will require electronic tags if their cattle stay are managed together as a group from birth to death. The mandate will place an unfair burden on small producers. See more background information on our website.

FTCLDF in the News: Politico Asks if Raw Milk is "Rage Against the Machine"

FTCLDF was asked to participate in an important Politico article, "How Raw Milk Went from a Whole Foods Staple to a Conservative Signal," by Marc Novicoff.

FTCLDF member Esther Arkfeld was featured, along with FTCLDF Executive Director Alexia Kulwiec, and Sally Morrell from the Weston A. Price Foundation.

Novicoff analyzes the loosening of raw milk regulation as a new conservative movement against regulation, in part because of a growing distrust of government authorities. Yet the article

describes changes in the attitude concerning raw milk both from Republicans and Democrats and

recognizes the increased interest of consumers in raw milk as a healthy food with beneficial probiotics, enzymes, and vitamins.

The article addresses changes in several states that have made raw milk more available and in fact providing greater access to food freedom in general.

FTCLDF Executive Director Alexia Kulwiec said, "This is an important article in recognizing the desires of consumers to obtain healthy local food, and to retain the choice in the foods they consume.”
