There is a proposed bill in Oklahoma,
HN 1032, that would make it easier for home based producers of food to sell their products. Specifically, if the bill passes, non-hazardous homemade food products could be sold on the premises or through remote means such as internet and telephone order or by a third party vendor such as a retail store as long as signage indicates that the product was made in a home kitchen exempt from government licensing.
The home producer would be able to sell so-called potentially hazardous foods directly to the consumer. Unfortunately, this would not include meat or dairy.
I am not asking for specific action at this time, although you are likely to hear from me again in the future.
I'd like to know if you are interested in helping with this effort, such as contacting legislators or providing testimony on the importance of this bill, when the time comes.
