Judith McGeary is an attorney, activist, and sustainable farmer in Texas. Christopher and his wife run a 117-acre farm in Tennessee where they raise pastured eggs, chicken, turkey, pork, and beef.
A few months ago, Christopher called the FTCLDF emergency hotline (a members-only benefit) to alert us that USDA inspectors visited and inspected his poultry and beef custom exempt processing operations. In the end, he addressed the concerns they raised and made some adjustments to his operations. We also prepared an animal share agreement by which he sells live animals or shares in live animals to interested customers, who can then hire him to provide slaughter and processing services.
