Subject: =?utf-8?B?8J+RvQ?= More traffic with less content? What is this sorcery?

Sorry I've been AWOL.

I'd like to tell you I was abducted by aliens, but the truth is even more bizarre and you just wouldn't believe me ;)

I have, however, been more active in my Marketing Geekery Facebook Group, sharing stuff about what I'm doing...

Stuff like this:

I'm in the process of giving my blog an overhaul to improve traffic.

I'm doing this by actually *reducing* the number of posts, so there are no old zero traffic posts dragging down my search engine rankings.

You may be wondering if I've taken leave of my senses or used ancient sorcery to open a portal to some another universe where everything works backwards...

The answer is that I went mad some time ago and I tried the other universe, but it was filled with Cardassians, so I sealed up the portal forever...

And there is a method in my madness.

Less content can actually help you get better results...

Have a read of this, it will put what I'm doing into perspective.

I am getting rid of some posts and 301 redirecting to new posts (using this plugin).

And I am combining similar, low traffic posts into one big post as well.

How do I know they are low traffic? I have Google Analytics set up on my blog, so I can go into the GA dashboard and check.

I plan to build a few backlinks to the most important remaining posts too (Look at me doing SEO! Lol!), which I will promote as often as possible.

Anyway, to accomplish this, I first needed a list of blog posts, preferably together with their categories.

Being too lazy to copy them all down manually, I searched for a plugin to do the work for me.

After several fruitless searches, I found the Export All URLs plugin, which has made my job soooo much easier!

You can find it here.

And this gave me a neat spreadsheet of my posts, which I have sorted via category:

I did have to go through and link each URL, but that wasn't too tedious.

I now have all posts colour-coded depending on what I plan to do with them.

The first consolidated post is now finished - you can take a look at what I did here

And that's everything that's happened in my life, right up until I wrote this email ;)

I'll be sharing more of what I'm doing and the results in my free Facebook group.

If you have any questions or just want to tell me how brilliant I am, hehe, feel free to post in the group or hit reply here. I don't bite unless there's a full moon ;)

May the Force be with you!

Sally

Hi there! I'm Sally Lazarus! I'm an Online Marketer, wife, mother and massive geek…

I started out as a programmer many moons ago, before the Internet as we know it was born… No, not when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! How rude! :P

I've been working online since late 2011. I don't claim to be some sort of guru, but I aim to make the techie stuff easier for you by sharing my best tools, tips, tricks and step-by-step methods to help you get things done more quickly, leaving you more time to do the stuff that actually makes money.

I'm an ethical marketer and always check things out properly before I share them with you. I wouldn't recommend anything that I didn't believe in or wouldn't use myself :)
