Subject: Facebook Ads, Frustration =?utf-8?B?8J+Ypw?= & Free Resources...

Yesterday, I was busy working on a Facebook Ad to promote my squeeze page.

I haven't used Facebook Ads in a while, so I spent some time getting to grips with the new FB Power Editor and reading up about targeting...

I created an image at the recommended size and uploaded it to my site as the "social image" (ie the image that Facebook shows when the link is shared)

You have to be careful not to use too much text with a Facebook ad image, so I checked it with their tool, which you can find here:
https://www.facebook.com/ads/tools/text_overlay

After a bit of jiggery pokery, I managed to get it to fit the "your ad will run normally" category.

Ok, so far, so good...

I then spend a good long time playing with different audiences which seemed to swing wildly from "too specific" to "fairly broad" with no logical sense...

Already frustrated by this point, I filled in the rest of the ad fields & ad copy...

And then the ad manager threw a wobbly and lost all my text, including a large chunk of my ad copy!!!

I really wanted to get it finished, so I delayed dinner by another half an hour to rewrite it and then uploaded it for review...

Fifteen minutes later, Facebook had disapproved it! "Doesn't comply with our policies". Aargh!!!

I can't tell you how frustrated I was at this point as there didn't seem to be any guidance as to what specifically I had done wrong (at least not on my smartphone)...

Thankfully, when I logged into the Power Editor this morning, there was some actual info on what I'd done wrong - I'd used the "Display Link" box wrong. Oops! Won't touch that again!

Anyway, I've also removed the exit pop from my page as that's against their policies too and made a few edits to the copy, which has probably improved it, tbh, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise? Lol!

Fortunately, it's been approved this time. Yay! :)

But it hasn't started running yet. Boo! :(

Anyway, if you want to try Facebook Ads yourself, here are a few great resources that I have found useful:

And finally, Jon Loomer is sharing the 15 Facebook ad campaigns that he's running right now (as of May 4th).

As always, I'm here for you, so let me know if you have any questions :)

May the Force be with you!
