| Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium engaged 61,937 kids in hands-on experiences with science and history in 2019
Reflecting on 2019, we feel incredibly thankful. With your support, last school year our educators were able to serve 61,937 kids through our outreach and educational programs. This year we had over 740 kids and teens attend our summer camps and programs! Our library outreach programs not only continue to have a presence here in Flint and Genesee County, but now stretch as far out as Presque Isle, Michigan! These programs offer engaging, hands-on experiences with science and history, inspiring kids throughout our community. With your help, we can continue to deliver high-quality educational experiences to kids who need them most.
We have had a round of awesome exhibits come through Sloan Museum at Courtland Center, including the Rainforest Adventure Maze, The Robot Zoo, and now the long-anticipated Wild Kratts®: Creature Power®! and Rock U: The Institute of Rock ‘N’ Roll exhibits! At Longway Planetarium, we debuted three IMAX-quality shows from Giant Screen Films in 2019: Wonders of the Arctic, Journey to Space, and Oceans: Our Blue Planet. Each exhibit and each show has ushered audiences into exciting cultural experiences, close to home in Flint and Genesee County.
We are passionate about expanding learning opportunities for our community and beyond, and we need your help to do so.
