This talk will cover the basics that you need to know to enjoy finding constellations and celestial objects in the night sky. Find out how to begin to make sense of the stars when it all looks like a big jumbled mess overhead. We will briefly discuss the basics of what to look for in a telescope. We'll finish by looking into how our ideas of the size of the universe have changed over time with many historical discoveries, and how we estimate vast distances today.
