Sloan Museum is open Monday, December 30, 2024, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for special Winter Break hours.
Sloan Museum of Discovery will be open every day over Winter Break except New Year's Eve & New Year's Day.
Sloan Museum of Discovery in the Flint Cultural Center campus offers something for everyone over the Winter Break! 

Hagerman Street is a kid-sized mid-century American neighborhood for ages 0-6; Discovery Hall is for hands-on immersion in science; Durant Gallery is for people who love cars; and the History Gallery is for people who love history! (Please take note that Discovery Lab maker space is currently closed for upgrades and will re-open in January for an even better maker space experience!). Sloan Museum will be open with the following special Winter Break hours through January 5, 2025: Open December 26, 27, 28, 29, 30; January 2, 3, 4, and 5, 2025; closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Due to the Arts Education & Cultural Enrichment Millage passed by Genesee County voters in 2018, Genesee County residents receive FREE General Admission to Sloan Museum of Discovery (and 50% off tickets to Longway Planetarium); please bring your IDs to show residency to receive your benefits. Active Military personnel and their immediate family members, Military Veterans, and Teachers also receive FREE general admission with valid IDs. To buy tickets in advance go to SloanMuseum.org. Out-of-county guests may buy a discounted combo-ticket for the same-day visit to Longway Planetarium and Sloan Museum to make it a full day of Winter Break discoveries!

Book Fair for Grown Ups
Sat., January 18, 6-8 p.m. for 18+
Featuring new and used books from local book sellers R & B Books, Scholastic Books, and other vendors. Make your own bookmarks, buy a new book to start, or bring an old book to finish! Find a gift for yourself or for someone else! Cash Bar with food, drinks and snacks available for purchase at the Coffee Beanery Café. Bonus! The entire museum will be open to explore after hours! $5/person at the door, or buy tickets in advance here. 
Hobby Workshop - Making Tapestries
Sat., January 11, 2025
10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 
for ages 16+
Learn to make your own tapestries in this hobby workshop. Participants will learn about the tools and techniques used in the craft. You'll be given a loom and tools of your own to make a personal take-home project. For ages 16 and up.

January LEGO® Club - 
For LEGO® enthusiasts of all ages.

LEGO® Club is a FREE Drop-in Public Workshop (included with General Admission) every 2nd Saturday of the Month. Open to LEGO enthusiasts of all ages!
Romance Under the Stars

Reserve your spot at the table with your sweetest in advance! Enjoy a unique and elegant meal under the starry dome of Longway Planetarium, complete with appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert. This popular 21+ event is available for just two nights and sells out quickly. Tickets are limited and pre-registration is required. Choose between these two evenings:

More Winter Break Fun Just Across the Street at Longway Planetarium

Longway Planetarium, Michigan's largest and most technologically-advanced theatre dome, has special Winter Break hours. Daily shows will be offered December 26, 27, 28, 29, 30; January 2, 3, 4, and 5; the planetarium will be closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
