Since the inaugural show in 1973, originally called the Sloan Museum Summer Fair, and presented by the Alfred P. Sloan Jr. Panorama of Transportation, the purpose has remained consistent. These last 50 years of raising funds have been to acquire, restore, maintain and promote the unique, world class collection housed inside the Sloan Museum of Discovery a brand new, 21st Century building. Opening to the public in July 2022, you can follow the signs near the building and pay a visit to the new automotive gallery during the Auto Fair.
At this year’s show, we will feature live rock and roll music presented by the kids of The Third Degree Burns. DJ Scott Kuhl will spin your favorite recordings (just ask him) all weekend, while you enjoy the antique tractors, antique motorcycles, and our special displays. Enjoy the seeing our Celebration of Transportation in Durant Plaza, many of them one of a kind. You will also see a van that moves down the road, upside down. In the museum lobby, visit the new gift shop, have a coffee, and check out the 1953 Corvette Cut-a-Way Corvette. In the lobby you can also see the newest vehicle donation to the museum - a 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Town Sedan, donated by Auto Fair founder, Bob Sovis.
This weekend, the Flint Institute of Arts and the Applewood Estate are open, at no charge, during our show. Ask the car owners questions, because everyone knows, we love to talk about our cars. As always, please respect the cars on display, don’t touch unless the owner give permission.
