We've got animated shows for little ones, live astronomy shows for fans of the night sky, and full dome features for everyone in between. Note: please keep in mind several special events taking place on the grounds of Longway Planetarium in June...Juneteenth's Spotlight @ The Flint Cultural Center will feature live music, vendors and food trucks on June 15, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and on June 22-23, 2024, the Sloan Museum Auto Fair will be in full swing. During those special events, E. Kearsley Street between Walnut and Crapo Streets will be closed off to cars but access to the Planetarium parking lot is available from Robert T. Longway Blvd. to Walnut Street. |

Cosmic Colors Premiers Saturday, June 1, at Longway This new educational and fun show kicks off June 1. Discover the many reasons for color—like why the sky is blue and Mars is red. Take a tour within a plant leaf and journey inside the human eye. Investigate x-rays by voyaging to a monstrous black hole and then back to your doctor's office. Legend of the Enchanted Reef Starts June 11
Join energetic Shorty, intelligent Indigo, and daring sawfish Jake on a colorful coral reef adventure. After a fishing trawler devastates their reef, the trio has no choice but to set out on a quest to find a new home. Their unforgettable journey brings them face-to-face with an octopus, dolphins, anglerfish, and other exotic creatures. Legend of the Enchanted Reef is filled with humor and imagination that the whole family will enjoy. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Premiering June 11 and running Tuesday-Sundays at 4 p.m.

First Fridays - "Sky Glow: An Artificial Affliction"
Join us to discuss the effects of lighting up the night! For thousands of years, the night sky has served as a source of inspiration and wonder for many. Now, excessive use of artificial light is limiting our ability to study the stars, and wreaking havoc on our wellbeing. Let's take a look at the impact of "sky glow" on the world around us. Presented by Lydia Bontrager, Planetarium Presenter.

June Sensory-friendly show: Cosmic Colors - June 8, 2024, 11 a.m.
During sensory-friendly shows (offered the 2nd Saturday of everyone month at 11 a.m.), we turn the lights up and turn the sound down to provide a safe, welcoming environment for our friends with special needs or anyone who prefers a less stimulating environment. Sensory-friendly shows will now feature open captioning for the hearing-impaired community. Be yourself and find the best spot in the house to enjoy the show! Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
