With five different galleries at Sloan Museum, you'll find activities for kids, kids at heart, history buffs, and vintage car buffs. At Michigan's largest planetarium, there are full-dome shows for the whole family, or live educational shows for space fans like the new 12-part series, "The History of the Universe." Best of all, Genesee County residents receive free general admission at Sloan Museum all year long, thanks to the Arts Education & Cultural Enrichment millage, and half off at Longway Planetarium. Members of Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium can enjoy early entry to Sloan Museum on the 3rd Saturday of every month at 9 a.m. - one hour prior to opening to the public! Take advantage of those member perks and come enjoy the exhibits for an extra hour!

New! Community Gallery: 'From Crisis to Care' Features the History of Emergency Response in Genesee County

From Crisis to Care exhibition showcases the evolution of emergency response. The exhibit was a year-long collaborative project between Sloan Museum curatorial staff, Exhibit team members, and staff of Hurley Medical Center who generously provided artifacts and directed the story. Also partnering on the exhibit is Patriot Ambulance Service which provided artifacts, including a real ambulance that invites visitors inside. The exhibit is free with general museum admission. New Episodes of Discover Uncover Now Streaming!

Discover Uncover delves into the deeper backstories of Sloan’s vast historical collection of nearly 50,000 artifacts. Listeners and viewers will go on a journey back in time as we dig into the fascinating stories of Flint, Genesee County, and Michigan using the artifacts as a jumping point. Lego Club Saturday, July 13, 10-11:30 a.m.

Join us in the Discovery Lab maker's space on the 2nd Saturday of every month for Lego Club! July's Lego challenge features "Hide and Seek." You'll be completing a hide-and-seek challenge where Lego clubbers will have to hide a specific Lego piece inside their Lego creation, then invite others to try and find it! Think you can conceal it best? Join us! Lego club is FREE, included with museum general admission, and open to Lego enthusiasts of all ages. Learn more here. 
Book Clubs Return in September!

Sloan Museum of Discovery Historical Book Club
Every first Thursday of the month starting in September at 6 p.m., Sloan Museum of Discovery hosts a free book club (included with museum general admission) in one of our learning labs. All books are affiliated with Flint's storied history. The evening will conclude with a special guided tour through the Sloan Museum History Gallery where club members can connect with the book's historical references through real-life museum artifacts. 

Longway Planetarium's "Books & Stars" Book Club
Every first Wednesday of the month starting in September at 5:30 p.m., Longway Planetarium hosts a free astronomy-related book club related to that month's Planetarium programming.

July Sensory-Friendly Feature: Enchanted Reef 
Showing July 13, 2024, 11 a.m.

During sensory-friendly shows (offered the 2nd Saturday of every month at 11 a.m.), we turn the lights up and turn the sound down to provide a safe, welcoming environment for our friends with special needs or anyone who prefers a less stimulating environment. Sensory-friendly shows will now feature open captioning for the hearing-impaired community. Be yourself and find the best spot in the house to enjoy the show! Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
