Charlie Johnston presents, "Einstein, Eddington, and the Proof of Relativity." In 1919, two British eclipse expeditions verified Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. Traditional concepts of Euclidean geometry, Newtonian gravity, and an unchanging universe were replaced by "space-time," black holes, and an expanding universe. Einstein became a world celebrity. To research these events, Charlie Johnston has traveled extensively throughout Cambridge (UK), Leiden (Netherlands), Sobral (Brazil), Ann Arbor and Tallahassee. He will review the validation of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and present unpublished photographs and documents.
