Painted Land is a documentary about a group of Canadian landscape painters active in the 1920s, known as the Group of Seven, who worked in Algoma and the region north of Lake Superior. The film focuses on Gary and Joanie McGuffin (photographer and writer), who have spent years finding the exact spots where these great landscape painters created their iconic works. Painted Land features spectacular octocopter footage, flying over gorgeous autumn scenery, evocative music and lots of history. (70 minutes)

Q & A with Gary & Joanie McGuffin
Canadian photographer Gary McGuffin attributes his love for photographing landscape to the Group of Seven, which has led him to embark on similar adventures, traveling throughout Canada with his wife Joanie by land and canoe for more than 25 years. Starting in 2008, the McGuffins have partnered with Michael Burtch, retired Director-Curator of the Art Gallery of Algoma, to determine the exact locations of these works in order to bring awareness to these historic sites.
