Melodies of the Homeland Special Screening, featuring Michael Ibrahim On Celebrating and Preserving Arab Music

Michael Ibrahim is an award-winning conductor, composer, educator, multi-instrumentalist, and a recognized innovator in the Arab music circuit. A Metro-Detroit native, he was born into a Syrian immigrant family of humble origins. His pioneering roles as the founder and current Music Director of the National Arab Orchestra (NAO) have propelled him to the forefront of the Arab music scene. Wujud is a storytelling project launched by the Arab American Heritage Council (AAHC). Longway Planetarium has partnered with the AAHC for this special Wujud screening where we explore the stories behind Ibrahim's personal journey, his dynamic musical style, and the founding of the National Arab Orchestra.
