Serge Dagueneau and his daughters are the uncle, and cousins, respectively, of Didier Dagueneau. Serge’s two daughters, Florence and Valerie, are two hard-working, serious young vigneronnes, and the prime reasons that this domaine is now starting to appear on many of the top wine lists in France. Serge, Florence and Valerie are also proponents of harvesting late, and their single vineyard Les Pentes (that is made exclusively for Weygandt Selections) is marked by a distinctly ripe-tasting, rich, melony quality which comes from Sauvignon on calcaire soil, when hand-harvested at its peak of maturity.
2013 Domaine Serge Dagueneau et Filles
Pouilly Fume Les Pentes

$288 case

“The 2013 Pouilly-Fumé Les Pentes is a crisp, Kiwi-like Sauvignon from 45-year-old vines in Kimmeridgian marl soils. Very clear and aromatic, its flinty tropical aromas of kiwi, passion fruit, mangoes, guava, lychee, citrus and grapefruit are followed by a very attractive attack in the mouth. Racked from the lees in January and bottled in March this is a brilliant, fruit-intense and elegant Pouilly with a luscious fruit and a piquant, zesty finish.”
