Subject: Really Cool Blade Art Mini-Documentary...

Friend,

Here's a real gem of a video for today's Friday randomness email...

There's an entire spectrum of martial arts out there beyond what you see in popular martial arts publications.

And it's a sad fact that we lose martial arts knowledge in each generation, simply because it doesn't get passed down.

I recently came across this neat little documentary on the late Haitian machete teacher, Professor Alfred Avril, and it's a must-see video for anyone with an interest in the blade arts:

The cool thing is, you don't have to travel to Haiti to learn Haitian fencing (although that would be way cool). Thankfully, there are people here in the States who are working to preserve this art.

Austin martial artist Da'mon Stith is one of them, as well as the good people at HaitianFencing.org... if you're so inclined to explore this art further.

Enjoy your weekend!

Until next time,
