Have You Heard The Good News? ...
The era of bookmaker account restriction could well be coming to an end. As of this week, Betvictor is the first to start offering customers a minimum bet guarantee.
The guarantee states that all customers will in future be able to bet up to a minimum payout of £500. Basically, if betting at evens, you're good staking up to £250. At 10/1, your good up to £50.
There are a few limitations -
- Horse racing win and each way markets only - Only available from 11am each day - No best odds guaranteed offered
Recently, Betvictor tweeted...
"Customers who have been previously excluded from Sportsbook as a trading decision should email help@betvictor with the details, these accounts will be considered for wagering on this market only."
So, if you have a restricted account with Betvictor, be sure to email them and get yourself reinstated.
And they're not the only one...
Betfair Sportsbook joined the team soon after, offering the same £500 guarantee, although currently it's limited to win only markets, and race classes 1 and 2.
This welcome change has come about thanks to continued pressure from the Horse Racing Bettors Forum, headed by Matt Bisogno (of Geegeez fame), so hats of to them for their efforts...
But let's not count our chickens just yet...
Bookmakers are renowned for their unfair play tactics, and therefore in my opinion it's best to approach all this with an air of skepticism.
You never know, they could decide to revoke this bet guarantee again at some point. Let's hope this isn't the case.
On the other hand, this could well be a sign of the good things to come, and we could potentially see more firms following suit in future.
