I’m very excited to reach out to you again. It’s my first newsletter to you this new year and I’m so glad that you are part of it!
As we look forward to an exciting 2022, I’ve got one question for you. When things go awry, would you rather wait on the Lord or try to fix things all by yourself?
Today’s devotional titled “Wait on the Lord” is based on David’s reflections on Psalm 37 Vs 34 - 40.
“…Wait on the Lord, keep his ways and he will exalt you… I’ve seen the wicked man flourishing like a green tree in his native soil but soon passed away, it was no more. Though I looked for him, he could not be found…”
David shares with us right here, the contrast between those who pursue their selfish interest and those who wait on the Lord.
Let’s be clear on something, it can be very difficult to wait on the Lord. When you’re anticipating something you want badly; you might find yourself trying to make it happen immediately because you just can’t afford to wait even when the Lord is telling you to do so!
Applying this in our marriages, we all have faults and we also see the faults in our spouse. You've probably tried so much to work on your imperfections, fix your faults, but you just can’t get your spouse to do the same. Sometimes, you wish you could extinguish those faults and get your spouse to stop whatever they’re doing that irritates you.
The Lord is telling you today to wait on Him!
Taking matters into your hands by going ahead of the Lord to fix your spouse isn’t going to work. It’s only going to bring you more trouble.
So Friend, go down on your knees, lay it all down on God’s feet. He says I’ll fix it but then, you must wait on me! You must learn to do things in God’s way and not yours. You must learn patience. Don’t make any rash decisions.
It’s okay if you feel frustrated, scared, anxious, or even depressed. However, I encourage you to wait on the Lord. Let him fix your marriage, your heart, and whatever it is that needs fixing with your spouse. Don’t take matters into your hands, let God fix it, and get ready to forgive when he tells you to do so!
