Subject: Feeling overwhelmed by calls and emails?

You start each day after the “opportunity clock” starts yelling at you

You shower and get your caffeine going,

Get on the highway and are flying down the road

Then you get to the office (or wherever you work) and you are overwhelmed by

  • the sheer volume of emails

  • And phone calls

  • And folks yelling at you for your attention!

Whew, not only is it exhausting, and getting worse every day,

Before long...

You feel like you are getting more and more behind!

According to Brian Moran, (the author of the 12 week year) a solution is to start putting “Buffer Blocks” into your daily routine.

He suggests adding one or two buffer blocks of 30 to 60 minutes in your calendar each day-

Where they are utilized to answer emails, return phone calls and any other routine things you do that take you away and use up your time.

When you realize the cool thing about buffer blocks

is they keep the interruptions down

And allow you to do the more important things,

You will be amazed.

So how do you use buffer blocks?

Let your regular contacts know then you have these buffers each day

And they will know exactly when they can reach you.

He even suggests you change your voice mail message

For example: “ I am not available right now, but if you leave a message, I will return calls between 11 and 12 and 4 and 5 each day.”

Doesn’t this sound like a great idea to get more done each day?
