Every so often, someone asks me about learning to sing and play at the same time. It's a skill that comes easier for some than others, so when I saw an article on Guitar World's website, I thought I'd share...

I never really thought much about this being an issue when I was learning guitar because it was something I just did. I guess I lucked into learning songs that were extremely simple to sing along to, otherwise I might have realized what a challenge it can be!

Ah, youth and its ignorance...

Number 2 from this article's list is exactly why I was able to play and sing fairly easily. I unwittingly gave myself a boost of confidence because I was learning songs that have very simple rhythms and strum patterns.

Songs like "Take Me Home Country Roads" by John Denver and "Take It Easy" by The Eagles.
