Subject: Two Extremely Cool Guitar Learning Resources

Hey Friend,

Good morning!

Hope your weekend is going well. I decided to undertake the massive job of flipping my office around to see if I could create a better workflow. Of course, half the process is tearing everything apart so you can then put it all back together.

So far all indications are that this arrangement will work out better. One plus is I’ve now got the room windows behind me, which should provide better lighting for VIDEOS!

I’ve got on my task list to create a test video, so I’ll be busting out the Logitech webcam that has surprisingly good video quality (better than this iMac). I’ve also found info on how to record from two cameras at the same time, so I’ll see how the video quality is on the cellphone…

This past week, there were some very cool guitar training options that came to my attention.

The second was that Synyster Gates' new website is now live with guitar lessons. Synyster Gates is the lead guitarist from Avenged Sevenfold (AX7).

I registered and checked out the lessons (currently over 100 video lessons), and they’re good. Very good.

Now you might not be into the AX7 style of music, but there's a lot of valuable material that ALL guitar players can benefit from on the site.

The lessons are taught by his father “Papa Gates,” and there is an entire section of Synyster demonstrating various picking styles. Anyone looking to increase picking speed can benefit by practicing these exercises, but they take time to master.

Just a day before, another master, nay, VIRTUOSO, published an article and videos on Guitar World that I really encourage you to take the time to study.

Steve Vai presents some insight into how you develop your playing style, along with some of the philosophical aspects to learning guitar as it applies to you. He’s also given us a bunch of tabs to practice, but the real content is on you developing as a guitarist, not the physical exercises.

Check them both out and decide for yourself which one fills your needs right now.

I’ll be back to you later in the week. Have a great one!

Peace~
