Hey Friend,

For some reason I always thought of a maven as a witchy, sexy woman. Not sure why I thought that, but Man, did I have it wrong!

It's a Hebrew word that means "one who understands." We've come to take it as someone who's an expert in something, who then wants to help other people understand that subject.

Okay, I'm not gonna go out on a limb and call myself a guitar Expert, but I do know a lot of stuff about guitars. Enough to be dangerous.

And you know I want to help you know more about guitars. Especially guitar chords.

While I'd love to be all things to all people, it's just not possible. I realized a long time ago shredding wasn't my forte, but rhythm guitar is something I really dig. And I'm pretty good at. We each have to find our niche, our Shangri-La, our own ideal little slice of uniqueness and heaven that allows us to shine...

So I guess that makes me a maven...

Solid Rhythm Guitar

Guitar work in general requires you know a handful of the facets of guitar chords. Rhythm work pushes that requirement even further.

You don't have to be a good lead player to have solid rhythm chops. But if you want to be a good lead player, you can't slack on getting your rhythm chops. Your ability to play solid rhythm will directly affect how good a lead guitar player you'll be.

I'm a rhythm guy and I love guitar chords.

There, I said it... Fortunately, this isn't the kind of habit that's bad for my health and requires 12 steps to kick!

And Now the Confession

I've been dragging my heels launching Chord Clinic...

Delaying...

Waiting...

And I could keep on waiting until I have just the right plan, just the right starting point, just the right set of materials created, just the right technology in place...

Well where has that gotten us? You're still waiting and I'm still looking for that perfect moment to open it up for you.

Ya know what? The timing will never be ideal.

There is no perfect time.

There is only starting.

Committing to taking the first step... and then taking it.

Now.

Action.

Period.

I'm done draggin'. Queue Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty... Stop Draggin My Heart Around

Mr. Einstein said it best: "Nothing happens until something moves."

Since I'm a charter member in a rehabilitation program for perfectionists, I'm gonna go out on a limb and just get started. We'll get it figured out together along the way.

You've got a burning need to finally get a handle on all things guitar chords. Things like:
  • taming the fingers to do what you tell them to do
  • strengthening the fingers to wrestle those strings down so you can make the chords ring out clear and clean
  • making the fingers nimble enough for those fancy chord changes
  • knowing what chords to change to!
  • finally playing those "bastard" barre chords!
  • rockin' out your favorite tunes
I've got a burning need to help you get these things checked off so you can start playing music.

Together let's make some dreams come true. That's what The Chord Clinic is all about.

I've believed for a long time that learning guitar chords is the foundation every new guitar player needs to take them to whatever playing level they want to reach.

In fact, guitar chords are usually what cause a beginner to give up - to quit before they really get a chance to know the power of guitar and music. Learning to play chords gives you so many skills and techniques that transfer into playing advanced guitar, so they're a critical starting point for every player.

I want to help make sure you not only have the basics down, but that you can take those fundamentals and grow into the player you want to be.

The Chord Clinic will take you from being a brand new, never-before guitar chord-playin' n00b to a solid, hard-core chord master. I'll even stick my neck out there and say you will have the skills to become a professional player.

Now I can't guarantee that you WILL be a professional musician - that's on you and completely out of my control. You gotta do the work!

But The Chord Clinic will teach you the secrets behind chords and getting the most out of them.

And it's not just for n00bs...

Yeah, we're gonna cover:
  • hand stretching
  • finger strengthening/toughening
  • overcoming hand problems
  • your first chords
But we'll also dig into:
  • power chords
  • chord construction
  • arpeggios
  • chord theory
  • much more...
I'm frickin' stoked to finally be able to bring The Chord Clinic to you!

Watch for my email next week to get the details and get signed up. It's gonna be cool!

Peace~

Dave

P.S. I will be using Song Surgeon to build exercises for you. If you haven't checked out the fr.ee demo, you can get it here.
