Hey Friend,
Hope the week ended up on a high note for you. Of course, the fact that it's Saturday is probably enough, right?
I've got the Weekly Review here - grab the PDF and exercise file downloads right here.
While I put all this together this morning, I listened to some Classic Rock - Electric Light Orchestra's (ELO) "A New World Record." Here's an example - " Tightrope." Can you hear any interesting musical influences in there? Pretty awesome stuff, and it's nice to get back to my roots every once in a while. ELO was one of my favorite bands when I first got into Rock music.
Back in the day, bands would release their vinyl albums with concept art, and ELO had some album covers that I could sit and stare at for hours. That was always part of the experience - reading the the sleeves and looking at every detail of the artwork on the covers.
I even had the opportunity to see them in concert in 1981. I still love listening to their Classical music influences applied to Rock.
There are also heavy influences borrowed from the Beatles. In fact, it was the The Beatles that were the original inspirations for band founders Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan, who wanted to reproduce live the orchestral multi-layered sound the Beatles used for Strawberry Fields and other songs.
Now it's time for me to get going on measuring, cutting and installing baseboard trim.
Peace~
