Subject: The Alex Lifeson Chord

Hey Friend,

Gotta keep this one brief today... again.

I didn't realize we were going through the bi-yearly time change and I was losing an hour. This one snuck up on me and did a number - we were up much later than normal waiting to pick up my youngest daughter from her JROTC military ball.

It wasn't until after midnight that my wife reminded me we had to change the clocks. I thought she was pulling a preemptive April Fools prank on me! Damn you George Hudson!

Sooo, Davey's running short on time today. The bathroom project continues...

I did see a cool little article that had me grabbing my guitar and trying it out.

John Petrucci (of Dream Theater)  talked about his favorite chord in a recent interview. The F# major with an added 4 and flat 7. I tried it out and had to agree with his assessment that this chord should be named after Mr. Lifeson. Read the Guitar World article here.

I suggest you check out the article and give the chord a try. Pair it with an open E major and see where your inspiration goes with it. And if you have the time, listen through Rush's "Hemispheres" (Youtube video linked to the article).  You can hear all sorts of the airy chords (suspended and 'add' chords) I love to talk about.

Alright, gotta roll, Peeps - Rock it out!

Peace~

Dave
