Hey Friend,
Like I said yesterday, guitars are amazing works of art. They enhance a living space just by being present in it.
They can be quite affordable, and they can be extremely expensive (like any piece of art).
But they're very functional as well. They don't just hang on a wall. You get the best use out of them by playing them.
So you're going to spend money on a guitar, and you're going to spend money on materials for a home improvement project. At the end of the day, you can enjoy your finished living space, but it's still only a living space. Guitar allows you to have an ongoing creative outlet.
So what do you need to play guitar? Besides the guitar, there aren't too many tools you need, unlike house projects.
Number 8...
10. Less Offensive Visually 9. More Mobile 8. Less Tools Needed 7. Less Physically Painful 6. More Fun Socially 5. More Impressive 4. Sexier 3. More Envy 2. Less Expensive 1. More Respect
Some of you are blissfully unaware of all that is involved with home improvement projects. When a contractor is hired in, they have everything they need to do the job (if they're good and reputable). Your only concern is writing the check when the job is done.
If you choose to Do-It-Yourself, either due to necessity (no labor cost) or because you enjoy it, you have to get the tools to complete the project. Now granted, once you have the tools, you're set to do other projects around the house, but there's always another tool out there that can make the particular job easier.
I laid the last floor board last night for the whole-house flooring project we've had going on since before Thanksgiving. I finished up around 2100 hours. Let me give you an idea of the tools I've had to acquire to complete this job: - Table saw
- Miter saw (Chop saw)
- Saw blades
- Jig saw
- Dremel saw (for cutting under door frames - best tool ever!)
- Compressor
- Nail gun
- Hammers (carpenter and rubber mallet)
- Levels
- Screwdrivers
- Pliers
- Scrapers
- Tape measure
- T-square
- Pry bar
- Shop Vac
Them's all the tools I can think of used in my flooring project, off the top of my head. I also had to create some custom tools during the process - usually after scratching my head for a while wondering how I was going to get past a minor roadblock.
Granted, I've accumulated many of these tools over the years, but when you start adding up cost over time, I've easily got over $1000 invested - in just tools. These aren't pro grade tools, just regular DIY home user tools.
What tools do I need for guitar? A pick, a metronome and a tuner. Maybe a capo. So $10-20. If you play electric, add in an instrument cable and an amplifier. Want to get crazy and splurge a little? Get a guitar stand - $20.
Or a cool ebook that teaches you everything you need to know about power chords. Just saying...
Peace~
