Hey Friend,
My wife is a slave driver! Good thing I'm a willing servant...
We're back to work today, doing a complete cleaning of the pool area and continuing to dig out a retaining wall that was falling down.
I wanted to make you aware of another resource if you've been enjoying the lead guitar discussion.
If you go over the Premier Guitar on the web and do a search on the site for Paul Gilbert, you can read many lessons from him on the art of lead guitar. He did a column there called "Shred Your Enthusiasm" that offers many insights into his technique and how you can apply them to yours.
Even if you're not interested in stealing the spotlight from the singer, these articles are worth the read for the musical aspect. Awareness of new and interesting musical concepts is good for all guitar players regardless of your aspirations. Even if you don't fully understand all the ideas in an article, your brain is taking note. Over time and repeated exposure to these concepts, you'll begin to put the pieces together.
And they're great for self-study, if that's your thing.
If you want something a bit more structured, there's always Paul's Rock Guitar School over at ArtistWorks. Lot's of instructional videos, plus you can submit videos of your playing to Paul for analysis and critique. He'll help you refine your playing with his feedback in video format, plus you have access to all his feedback to other students. Check it at ArtistWorks for more info.
Back to work for me...
Peace~
