Subject: More Fun Than Weekend Projects...

Hey Friend,

Welcome to the weekend,
We got fun ’n games,
We got every kinda project honey,
they’re different but the same…

Ha, I couldn’t resist a little play on Guns ’n Roses “Welcome to the Jungle.”

It seems G’NR is in my stream of consciousness and the Universe has tapped into it. We were listening to music at the office and no matter what source we used - radio, Youtube, Pandora - every other song played seemed to be either “Jungle,” "Sweet Child ‘O Mine" or "November Rain.”

That usually sends me straight to my MP3 player and a set of earbuds, but alas, not really an option at work. I like variety, not the same songs over and over each hour (unless it's something I choose)… Radio sucks!

So yeah, projects.

I hope to get to an audio project this weekend. I’m building sound panels for my office/studio, so if I can get some baseboard trim done for my wife, I might be able to start on the panels. We’ll see…

I came across a website you might find useful. It’s Guitar World’s Ultimate Gear Guide

It claims to be the ultimate guide to guitar gear, but at this point, it looks like what you’ll find is a picture of the gear, a brief description and the retail price. It’s a work in progress...

Okay, maybe not super-useful, but it’s almost impossible to keep track of all the different gear options you have. Even if you get a catalog in the mail, it doesn’t have every product the company sells.

When you’ve never heard of a vendor or seen the kind of guitars they build, you don’t know what you don’t know, right?

For example, you might have never heard of Esoterik Guitars, but maybe you want to get a baritone guitar so you can down-tune easily without having to do a complete setup on your regular six-string.

I found one of these in the $500-999 section of the site. I wouldn’t have know to look for Esoterik otherwise.  I happen to love neck-through bodies, and I’m partial to 24 fret necks, so it was a good find!

It’s nice to have a website that let’s you scroll through some possibilities without having to click links and back buttons for each thing. The Gear Guide does that for you.

If nothing else, there’s enough to drool over, and the site gives you a jumping-off point if you find something you like. You can take the product name and head over to your favorite online store or the manufacturer’s website to read a more.

If you have a spare minute or three today, check out the Gear Guide to satisfy a little gear lust. It’s more fun than baseboard trim...

Peace~
