Whew, busy day today! Besides sending you a daily dose of guitar goodness, I have a phone interview, first draft due for a writing client and an awards assembly for my daughter. And then there's the bathroom renovation project I got elbow deep in over the weekend... don't think much will get done with that!

Hopefully you'll forgive me for the short message today...

So as promised, here is the verse from No Doubts "Sunday Morning" tabbed out for you to play with. Get the exercise files here.

Obviously this is a fast tempo song at around 155 BPM (beats per minute), but I'd like to point out that the "feel" of the song is more relaxed during the verse due to the Reggae beat versus the fast paced Rock beat played during the intro. No Doubt was one of the early bands in the Ska pop-punk genre that came out of Orange County, California during the late 1980/early 1990s.

I went ahead and created an MP3 at half speed as well, just in case you're not feeling the whole Ska thing and need to take it slow for the chord changes. .

Notice also how easy it is to play either full open chords or the power chords as I've shown in the tabs,. Like I've been saying, interchangeable. Because there's some crunch (distortion) on the guitar and a high energy tempo, power chords work really well to add some kick.
