Hey Friend,

You know how it is when you’ve got plans to get something done - you’re going to knock it out and cross it off your list - you know, you’re stoked because you’re gonna be done with it for good?

And then you get into it - and it just smacks you down like you’re some bug, buzzing around and annoying the crap out of it…

I feel like the bug…

I’m clawing myself out of that hole right now mentally, so rather than spew a bunch of incoherent stuff at you regarding intervals and theory and such, I’m gonna let Premier Guitar Magazine give you something interesting to read.

They recently had an article interviewing John 5, shred and shock guitarist for the likes of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. 

One look at the many images out on the inter-webs and you have no doubt this guy looks demented. But it’s really all just a show, very much like the Jekyll/Hyde persona of guys like Alice Cooper and the gang from Slipknot.

John 5 is a very down-to-earth guy who truly loves guitar and everything about it. 

You’re going to flip when you learn about his inspiration - the things that got him started with guitar in the first place.  I won’t spoil the surprise here, but when you read about it, you may have one of those “ah-ha” moments like I did.

Just goes to show you can’t just judge on the make up some guys are wearing (that’s a great eye liner on you!)

Take a few minutes and read the Premier Guitar interview with John 5 - there’s a lot of good, practical advice. Hopefully you get inspired to expand your influences a bit.
